Hi, I’m Sara — the heart behind Sara’s Cakes, Baked with Love in the North East. My baking journey began with humble treats like cupcakes, brownies, and macarons, which quickly turned into birthday cakes for my daughters and husband. What started as a creative outlet soon grew into a true passion for baking and, especially, cake decorating.
While juggling a full-time job as a retail manager, I began making celebration cakes for family and friends. Their support and encouragement kept me motivated while I was developing my confidence and sharpened my skills as a Baker. A crucial moment in my career as a baker came when a friend asked me to make her wedding cake — a challenge that both terrified and excited me. Taking that leap turned out to be the best decision I ever made. The positive feedback from the wedding guests sparked the vision for what would become my future career.
In 2018, I officially launched Sara’s Cakes, and today, I’m proud to be a full-time registered and fully insured baker, specialising in Wedding Cakes and Bespoke Buttercream Celebration Cakes across the North East of the UK. With 5 Star – Food Safety & Hygiene Rating. Awarded Regional Finalist Wedding Cake Designer of The Year, for two consecutive years, 2025 & 2026, by TWIA – Regional and National UK Wedding Industry Awards.
Baking gives me a real sense of work accomplishment. Giving me the opportunity to be creative while I enjoy what I’m doing.

From the beginning, I learned that the secret to a truly memorable cake lies in more than just the design — it’s about using high-quality ingredients that enhance both, the flavour and texture. Over the years, I’ve continually been on the hunt… of the best ingredients on the market. I knew this was essential if I wanted to make a difference as a Baker & Bespoke Cake Designer. A selection of top quality ingredients, together with years of chasing the “perfect” recipes, has led to deliver cakes that not only look beautiful but also taste incredible.
